The son of letterman George Reihner (1974-77), the younger Reihner joined the Nittany Lions in 2015 as a graduate transfer, after spending his first four seasons of eligibility at Stanford. He was the first grad transfer to ever come into Penn State, and appeared in 13 games in his lone season with the Nittany Lions, mostly on special teams and in relief at center.
The 26-year-old is no stranger to the coaching world. He spent the 2016 season as an offensive quality coach at Fordham, working closely with current Penn State tight ends coach Tyler Bowen. The following season, he was as an offensive graduate assistant at Wake Forest before spending last season as the tight ends coach at the University of Delaware.
