Penn State fans now know the time and broadcast network for the 2019 season's first five games, as the Big Ten Conference announced early season kickoff times on Thursday.

Here's the breakdown:

idaho at penn state

  • Date: Saturday, Aug. 31
  • Time: 3:30 p.m. EDT
  • Channel: BTN
  • Notes: This is a perfect way to ease into the Labor Day weekend. Hope for great weather, no rush to get to the tailgating lots, and a tissue-soft opener for the 2019 Nittany Lions.

buffalo at penn state

  • Date: Saturday, Sept. 7
  • Time: 7:30 p.m. EDT
  • Channel: FOX
  • Notes: [wide-eyes emoji] They did it again! Two years following a love-it/hate-it night game against Georgia State, Penn State will welcome another non-conference foe under the lights. Buffalo is coming off a huge season, but also lost their dynamic QB. Queue the complaints/cheers from the far-reaching corners of the web for this one. Maybe we can come up with a manufactured controversy over icing kickers again.

pitt at penn state

  • Date: Saturday, Sept. 14
  • Time: Noon EDT
  • Channel: ABC
  • Notes: The intrastate series finally comes to a close after four years with the 100th all time meeting between the two programs. Despite all the build-up and hype, only one game in the series has had any sort of excitement. Expect more of the same when the Panthers visit for the last time. The only downside here is the game doesn't start 51 minutes prior to 6:00.

penn state at Maryland

  • Date: Friday, Sept. 27
  • Time: 8 p.m. EDT
  • Channel: FS1
  • Notes: Much to James Franklin's chagrin, the Nittany Lions hit the road for a Friday night game for the second consecutive season. This move was announced in December, but time and TV remained unknown. After sleep-walking through the first have in Champaign last year, Penn State woke up to demoralize the Illini to the tune of 63-24.

purdue at penn state

  • Date: Saturday, Oct. 5
  • Time: Noon EDT
  • Channel: ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2
  • Notes: Homecoming and noon kicks, a Penn State tradition unlike any other. The level of difficulty ratchets up as the perky Boilermakers invade Beaver Stadium for the first time since 2013. Fun fact: Nittany Lion WR coach Gerard Parker was Purdue's interim head coach when Saquon Barkley and company laid waste to the Boilers in West Lafayette in 2016.
