With just about 50 days until the first weekend of the 2019 season, Sports Illustrated has begun their annual ranking of the top 100 players in college football.

The popular outlet has released numbers 100-51, with Penn State's own Yetur Gross-Matos checking in at No. 69.

"Last year Gross-Matos became the 11th player in Penn State history to record 20 tackles for loss in a single season; only eight players in the FBS had more. He is quick, explosive and strong enough to bear the playmaking expectations for a Penn State defense short on superstars."

While I disagree that this Penn State defense is short on superstars (Hello, Micah Parsons), Gross-Matos did have a breakout season for the Nittany Lions as a sophomore. The first-time starter racked up 54 total tackles, eight sacks, and a whopping 20 tackles for loss. He was named first-team All-Big Ten by the media, and somehow just third-team by the coaches for his efforts.

He has already been named to the Lott Impact Award watch list, and he should find his name on some other watch lists in the coming days.

It's not just the college ranks who are high on YGM, as, as he's appeared on a handful of early mock drafts as a first-round pick.

The full list can be found here.
