With the season inching closer, SuperBookUSA is doing its part to get fans excited for college football. In addition to their College Football Playoff odds, they have also released point spreads for some of the year's biggest games. The list includes five contests involving the Nittany Lions.
In the final meeting with in-state nuisance Pitt, Penn State checks in as a 14.5 point favorite. In their trip to College Park two weeks later for a Friday night battle, the Nittany Lions are 14 point favorites over the Terrapins.
In October, Penn State will return to Kinnick for the first time since the Trace Mcsory-to-Juwan Johnson walkoff tuddy. Three months out, the line is a pick 'em. Later that month, it's a visit to Spartan Stadium, where Mark Dantonio's squad is a meager 2.5 point favorite, crazy weather not accounted for.
Finally, in the penultimate weekend of the regular season, it's a visit to Ohio Stadium in Columbus, where the Buckeyes are big 13.5 point favorites at this early stage.
It is tough to argue much with any of those lines. Penn State has easily handled both Pitt and Maryland in recent years. Meanwhile, the last two meetings with the Hawkeyes have been decided by just five points, and Kinnick is never an easy place to play. Michigan State has had the NIttany Lions' number the last two seasons as well.
If there is any point of contention, it might come with that matchup against Ohio State. The last three meetings have been decided by a combined five points, with the Buckeyes claiming the last two by just a single point each.
