According to a report from Arizona State sports website Devils Digest, Penn State is one of four college football programs HBO has contacted about the possibility of a Hard Knocks type show. The other three programs are the Sun Devils, Washington State, and Alabama. Hard Knocks is an HBO docuseries that chronicles an NFL training camp each season. They are currently filming with the Oakland Raiders.
HBO has chosen four college programs to run a Hard Knocks like show later in the season. ASU will be featured during the week of home game versus Washington State who was also chosen for the show along with Penn State and Alabama.— DevilsDigest.com (@DevilsDigest) August 13, 2019
Penn State confirmed via statement that they are exploring the opportunity:
As we do with all opportunities we feel can enhance our program, we are exploring the prospect of working on this project with the appropriate officials from all parties involved.
The exposure of such a high-profile media entity would be a boon for the Nittany Lions. Fans would of course get an even deeper look inside the team than what is already provided through the school's sports information department. In addition, the buzz it would give James Franklin and his coaching staff on the recruiting trail would be hard to replicate.
Hopefully everyone involved can make it happen, because the country needs to see how amazing KJ Hamler is.
