Penn State will open the 2020 season by hosting the Kent State Golden Flashes, not the Nevada Wolfpack as originally expected.

The move comes after the Wolfpack scheduled a game against the Arkansas Razorbacks on the same weekend they were slated to come to Penn State. Kent State was supposed to play at Arkansas that week, but that game has been postponed until 2023, allowing Nevada to take that spot. It's unknown if Penn State will look to get Nevada back on the schedule at a later point.

Penn State is 6-0 all-time against the Golden Flashes, with the most recent being a 63-10 win in 2018. Kent State is currently 2-3 on the season, following a 48-0 loss to Wisconsin in Madison this past Saturday.

The Nittany Lions full 2020 slate is:

  • Sept. 5 - Kent State
  • Sept. 12 - at Virginia Tech
  • Sept. 19 - San Jose State
  • Sept. 26 - Northwestern
  • Oct. 3 - at Michigan
  • Oct. 17 - Iowa
  • Oct. 24 - Ohio State
  • Oct. 31 - at Indiana
  • Nov. 7 - at Nebraska
  • Nov. 14 - Michigan State
  • Nov. 21 - Maryland
  • Nov. 28 - at Rutgers
