On Monday night, Penn State released a statement confirming that star running back Journey Brown may potentially miss the 2020 season due to an undisclosed medical condition. In his first press conference of the season, head coach James Franklin addressed the story as best as he could given the situation.

“First of all, we want to focus all of our energy and love and support on Journey through this. I’m not going to get into a whole lot, but I didn’t want to just move on to the other guys without talking about how proud and how much we love and support and appreciate Journey and how much he’s grown in our program, and think he has a very, very bright future.”

As expected, he didn't offer much insight into the specifics surrounding Brown's absence. The tone seemed to suggest that it wasn't impossible that he still see the field at some point in 2020. Brown then decided to take to Instagram on his own to let Nittany Nation know that he appreciates the well-wishes and that he is looking forward to getting back on the field with his team.

What's up Penn State? What's up Meadville?

Just making a quick video to let y'all know I'm feeling better than ever and I really do appreciate all the text messages and prayers you guys are sending me. But if there's one thing I can reassurure you guys of, it's that hte Lawn Boyz are gonna come out and show out and I can't wait to get back on the field with them and my team.

Seemingly, this would imply that Brown hopes to make it back before the season's end. This would not only be a welcomed sight for Nittany Lion fans, but a great sign that things are pointing in a positive direction for Brown's long term health, and his continued push towards the NFL.
