With this year's NFL Draft, a successful one for a number of former Nittany Lions, now in the rearview mirror, prognosticators have turned their eyes forward towards 2021. Though still a year away, one of the Nittany Lions' top players is the betting favorite to be the first defensive player to hear their named called in Cleveland.

Sports Betting Dime lists rising All-American junior linebacker Micah Parsons as the fifth betting favorite to the first pick of next year's NFL Draft at 25/1, behind only Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence (-305 ML), Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields (3/1), Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell (4/1), and Miami quarterback D'Eriq King (16/1). When considering only defensive players, the reigning Big Ten Linebacker of the Year is the favorite to the first off the board at 3/1.

Parsons, if he decides to declare in 2021 as expected, should be Penn State's highest player taken since Saquon Barkley went 2nd overall to the New York Giants in 2018. The Lions haven't had a defensive player taken in the first round since Jared Odrick in 2010, and haven't had a linebacker taken in the first since Tamba Hali in 2006.
