Just over a week after announcing that he had entered the transfer portal, former Penn State defensive tackle Damion Barber has found a new home with Austin Peay.

Barber's note reads as follows.
First I would like to thank GOD, my Family and Coaches for helping me in this process! I want to say thank you to all the Coaches that reached out to me during my recruiting process. To all my Brothers, Coaches and Fans at Penn State there is no LOVE lost. Penn State will forever have a place in my heart!
Thank you Nittany Lions!
But nevertheless after talking to my Family, Friends and my Coaches I'm excited to say that I am 100% committed to Austin Peay State University #GoGovernors
Barber originally came to Penn State by way of Harrisburg High School (Harrisburg, PA) as a four-star prospect in the class of 2017. After being recruited as a defensive end, he made the switch to defensive tackle when he arrived on campus. He was never quite able to crack the rotation in the middle of the defensive line but given that he is still learning the position, he should have a great opportunity to prove himself with Austin Peay. Barber will still have two years of eligibility remaining with the Governors.
Penn State still boasts plenty of defensive tackle depth after several years of focusing on adding talent to the position. PJ Mustipher and Antonio Shelton are the projected starters, with Fred Hansard and Judge Culpepper in line to see significant snaps as the second pairing.
