Penn State juniors Micah Parsons and Pat Freiermuth have been named preseason All-Americans by the Walter Camp Foundation. Parsons was a first-team selection, while Freiermuth was named to the second-team.
Parsons is expected to one of, if not the top defender in the country this season. He was a second-team All-America selection by Walter Camp last season after racking up a team-high 109 tackles, including 14 for a loss, and five sacks.
Freiermuth was beaten out by Florida tight end, and Pennsylvania native, Kyle Pitts for the top honors at his position. A more complete tight end, Freiermuth caught 43 passes for 507 yards, and seven touchdowns last season, while also helping block for an offense that averaged over 190 yards rushing per game.
This is the latest in what's been a busy offseason of accolades for the Parsons and Freiermuth. The duo had previously been named the top playmakers at their respective positions by CBS Sports and have both been slotted as first-round picks in some way-too-early 2021 mock drafts.
