There's not much assured heading into the 2020 season, but Watch List Season is upon us. On Monday, Penn State junior linebacker Micah Parsons was named to the 2020 Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List. Surely this is the first of several preseason lists on which the 2019 consensus All-American will find himself.
Parsons led Penn State in tackles each of the last two seasons and tallied 109 in 2019, including 14 for a loss. His impressive year was rewarded with the Big-Ten Linebacker of the year and being named a first team All-American by the AP, Sports Illustrated and ESPN.
The Chuck Bednarik Award is presented to the best defensive player in college football. Three different Nittany Lions have won (LaVar Arrington - '99, Paul Posluszny - '05 and '06, Dan Connor - '07), and Ohio State's Chase Young won the award last season.
