Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons is no stranger to preseason watch lists. On Tuesday, he earned yet another accolade along with teammate Shaka Toney as they were named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. The award has been presented to the nation's top collegiate defensive player since 1993 and is voted on by the Football Writers Association of America.
For Parsons, this is the third watch list he has been named to along with the Bednarik and Butkus Awards. The honors continue to roll in for the returning All-American linebacker who has led the Nittany Lions in tackles the past two seasons.
In 2019, Toney had a career-high 38 tackles, 13 of which were solo stops, and 6.5 sacks. Against Purdue, Toney had a breakout game where he tallied 3 sacks and was selected by the Penn State coaching staff as the Defensive Player of the Game.
No Penn State player has won the award, but Carl Nassib was named a finalist in 2015. Ohio State's Chase Young won the award last season.
