The Nittany Lions may not be taking the field next month, but they are still getting some respect in the preseason AP Poll. Voters are required to consider teams from all conferences, even those that have postponed their fall seasons.

James Franklin's squad checks in at No. 7, the same slot they occupied in the Coaches Poll. They are joined by fellow Big Ten teams Ohio State (No. 2), Wisconsin (No. 12), Michigan (No. 16), Minnesota (No. 19), and Iowa (No. 24). In total, nine teams in the poll will not be playing football this fall.
