Freshman defensive end Brandon Taylor is no longer a member of the Penn State football program after being dismissed for a violation of team rules. 247Sports first reported the story.
A three-star prospect in Penn State's 2019 recruiting class, Taylor was the No. 16 player in the state of Ohio in his class. He committed to the Nittany Lions last summer, choosing Penn State over Kentucky and Michigan State.
Taylor was likely heading for a redshirt season whenever the next football season will take place, but he was an intriguing prospect who probably could have played along in the interior or on the edge. With his departure, the Nittany Lions are now down to nine scholarship defensive ends and by our count are two under the 85 scholarship limit.
