Redshirt freshman wide receiver John Dunmore has withdrawn from Penn State, potentially ending his Nittany Lion career and further depleting a position room that desperately needs new playmakers this fall.
A four-star prospect in Penn State's 2019 class, Dunmore appeared in one game last season and was twice named the Developmental Squad Offensive Player of the Week.
The Fort Lauderdale native committed to Penn State in July of 2018, but that was far from the end of his recruitment. Miami pushed hard to flip the 6'1 pass catcher, but they ultimately came up short and Dunmore signed during the early signing period.
The Hurricanes would be a natural choice for Dunmore's next stop, as would a handful of other schools in his home state of Florida. He is now the third scholarship receiver to leave the program in the past calendar year, joining Justin Shorter and Mac Hippenhammer.
The move leaves Penn State with just four scholarship receivers on the team who were also on the 2019 roster.
