After a long offseason, the first depth chart of the year is a clear indication that Penn State football is on the horizon. It's been an offseason full of change in Happy Valley, but there will still be a ton of talent on the field this Saturday afternoon.

QB Sean Clifford Will Levis Ta'Quon Roberson
RB  Noah Cain Devyn Ford Caziah Holmes OR Keyvone Lee
WR-X Cam Sullivan-Brown Daniel George TJ Jones
WR-H Parker Washington Isaac Lutz Justin Weller
WR-Z Jahan Dotson KeAndre Lambert-Smith Jaden Dottin
TE/H Pat Freiermuth Brenton Strange Zack Kuntz, Theo Johnson
LT Rasheed Walker Will Fries Des Holmes
LG Mike Miranda Des Holmes Sal Wormley
C Michal Menet Mike Miranda Juice Scruggs
RG CJ Thorpe Des Holmes Anthony Whigan
RT Will Fries Caedan Wallace Bryce Effner

  • With Journey Brown out, it's going to be the Noah Cain and Devyn Ford show. Holmes and Lee should get some run as well.
  • Hello Cam Sullivan-Brown and Parker Washington. While everyone expected these to play a ton, they weren't expected to be starters.
  • Brenton Strange has secured the backup tight end job, giving Penn State a solid option if they choose to go jumbo.
  • Des Holmes will back up both guard spots, while Will Fries can clearly bounce between both tackles as the staff sees fit.

CB Joey Porter Jr. Keaton Ellis OR Daequan Hardy -
S Lamont Wade Ji'Ayir Brown Trent Gordon
S Jaquan Brisker Jonathan Sutherland Tyler Rudolph
CB Tariq Castro-Fields Marquis Wilson Daequan Hardy

  • The biggest surprise here is clearly Joey Porter Jr. The redshirt freshman has had a great camp and has the size to be a shut-down corner. Expect a lot of Keaton Ellis and Marquis Wilson too.
  • It looks like Hakeem Beamon has cracked the two-deep, giving the Nittany Lions a big space-eater in the middle of the defensive line.
  • Curtis Jacobs and Lance Dixon have locked down the backup outside linebacker spots, while Jesse Luketa will slide to the middle now and again.

  • No real surprises here, but Devyn Ford will take over kick return duties. He's a threat to score every time he touches the ball and should give the Nittany Lions a spark back there.
