After having six different players named to the all-conference offense by the coaches and the media, five more Nittany Lions were named to the All-Big Ten defensive teams on Wednesday.

Penn State defensive end Shaka Toney was a First-Team selection, defensive end Jayson Oweh was a Second-Team pick, and safety Lamont Wade and cornerback Joey Porter Jr. were named to the Third Team according to the media.

Indiana led the way with six selections (four on the first team), while Northwestern followed behind them with five selections. Iowa and Penn State each had four, and Ohio State had three.

Penn State also had some representatives in the coach selections, with both Oweh and Toney earning First-Team nods. Safety Jaquan Brisker was named to the Third Team.

Ohio State and Indiana led the way with six total selections each. Iowa and Northwestern followed with four apiece. Penn State followed with their three honorees.

All in all, Toney, Oweh were named to both teams and Toney was a first-teamer on both lists. Wade and Porter Jr. only appeared within the media selections, while Brisker appeared only among the coaches' selections.

The Nittany Lion defense performed much better over the final three games than it did to start the season, and these picks seem to reflect just that. Of the selected players, only Porter Jr. is a lock to return In 2021. Toney, Wade, and Brisker are all set to move on, though all do technically have the choice to return thanks to the free year of eligibility. Oweh is just a redshirt sophomore but is expected to be a first or second-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, fueling speculation that he will declare early.
