According to multiple reports on Wednesday, Penn State junior tight end Zack Kuntz has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

We saw Brenton Strange and Theo Johnson take on important roles last season once Pat Freiermuth was injured. Those two were definitely bright spots.
Kuntz was a high 4-star tight end recruit in the 2018 recruiting class, along with Pat Freiermuth. The 6-foot-7 Kuntz came in much thinner than his counterpart, and redshirted that 2018 season while Freiermuth broke into a starting role.
With the graduation of senior Nick Bowers after the 2019 season, Kuntz was primed to battle for the second tight end spot behind Freiermuth. However, sources indicate that medical issues limited his ability to make an impact, and Brenton Strange and Theo Johnson both ended up with larger roles once Freiermuth's season ended due to injury. Kuntz appeared on offense in four games, but played just 14 total snaps at tight end in 2020, and did not record any statistics.
Kuntz still has the option to return to Penn State, and may just be exploring his options with a crowded tight end room. He is still a high potential player with his size and speed.
