Penn State reserve safety and special teams ace Drew Hartlaub received a surprise scholarship following Saturday's modified "Blue-White" game. Linebacker U great Jack Ham broke the news to the whole team, leading to Hartlaub getting mobbed by his teammates.
Hartlaub's appeared in 30 games over the past three seasons, with his biggest impact coming as a punt gunner. He's totalled 11 tackles and recovered two fumbles in that span.
This isn't the first time James Franklin has awarded a player a scholarship at the spring game. Former Nittany Lion and current Minnesota Viking wide receiver Dan Chisena was surprised with one back in 2019.
