Summertime is great for warm weather, swimming, vacations and college football watch lists. Tis’ the season as they say and on Monday, Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker was named to the 2021 Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List.

Brisker has already earned some national recognition. He was named to the Pro Football Focus Preseason All-American team. The JUCO transfer started all nine games a season ago and made 57 tackles (33 solo) in the crazy 2020 season.

Brisker is set to anchor a secondary that is one of the most experienced units in the Big Ten. A big season out of Brisker could propel the senior into the early rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Chuck Bednarik Award is presented to the best defensive player in college football. Three different Nittany Lions have won (LaVar Arrington - '99, Paul Posluszny - '05 and '06, Dan Connor - '07) the award. Tulsa linebacker Zaven Collins won the award last season.

Brisker is the second Nittany Lions to find himself on a major award watch list, with Jahan Dotson appearing on the Maxwell Award watch list.
