Penn State football signee Lonnie White Jr. has been selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the 64th pick in the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft.
With his selection by the Pirates, White now has a huge decision ahead of him between enrolling at Penn State and starting his collegiate career in both football and baseball, or signing with the Pittsburgh and beginning his journey to the big leagues.
The projected slot value of his selection is $1.05 million according to MLB.com, but teams can offer more than that amount in bonus money should they desire. White has not given any indication as far as which way he may be leaning, opting to let the draft process play out.
White is the second-highest rated signee in Penn State's 2021 recruiting class and is viewed as one of the top pass catchers in his class. 247Sports ranked him No. 73 overall and the No. 10 wide receiver nationally.
With fall camp just a few weeks away, White will need to make a decision relatively quickly on his next steps.
