Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker was named to the Jim Thorpe Award watch list. The trophy is given annually to the nation's top defensive back.

Brisker earned first-team All-America honors from Pro Football Focus in 2020 after amassing 57 tackles, seven passes defended, and one interception. He was also named to the Bednarik Award watch list earlier this month, and PFF's preseason All-American team in June. College football guru Phil Steele has Brisker as a first team All-Big Ten safety as well.

The JUCO transfer is expected to be an early-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft after electing to return for his final season in Happy Valley.

The Nittany Lions have never had a player win the award. TCU safety Trevon Moehrig won the trophy last season.
