Penn State's Sean Clifford Named To 2021 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

For a second straight season, Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford was named to the preseason watch list for the Danny Wuerffel Trophy. 

Established in 2005, The Wuerffel Trophy is named after former Florida quarterback, Danny Wuerffel. It honors college football athletes who are impactful leaders in community service, while also achieving greatness on the football field and in the classroom. 

With new offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich now on board and implementing a new scheme, Penn State needs Clifford to get back to his 2019 form that saw him throw for 2,654 yards with a 23/7 touchdown-to-INT ratio. 

Last season, New Mexico offensive lineman Teton Saltes earned the Wuerffel Trophy. You can check out the full rundown of players on this season's watch list here
