Penn State suffered their first loss of the season after falling to Iowa 23-20. I was debating even looking at the Twitter mentions but did not want to be accused of faking an injury. It was a frustrating loss and the Twitter mentions were what you have come to expect after a loss.
Fans were excited leading up to the big game.
Up-Tempo works @coachjfranklin— Ryan Kanner (@rkanner17) October 9, 2021
After an early interception by Sean Clifford, Penn State drove down the field by controlling the tempo.
Is faking injuries on defense to kill momentum part of your game plan @coachjfranklin?— Hawkeye Recruiting (@Iowa_Recruiting) October 9, 2021
Iowa fans booed injured Penn State players and now they are accusing Penn State of faking injuries. Iowa fans are also unfamiliar with offensive momentum so this was all new to them.
@coachjfranklin wtf are you doing? Get to halftime with the lead. Why are you throwing?— Michael Recchiuti (@mikerecchiuti) October 9, 2021
After Sean Clifford was injured, Penn State snuck into the locker room with a 17-10 lead at the half.
Between a hurt starting quarterback and the false starts, it was a frustrating second half.

@coachjfranklin just when I thought you turned a corner, you and your staff are back to normal!!!!!!!— Jack McCarthy (@jackmccarthy43) October 9, 2021
We are back to firing everyone now.
@coachjfranklin and if this is your idea of depth at the quarterback position, let me be the first to buy you a flight out of here— Jack McCarthy (@jackmccarthy43) October 9, 2021
Jack was very mad online.
@coachjfranklin you are the worst! Please leave and go to USC!— Jakie Moon (@Mac92a) October 9, 2021
There were so many tweets like this.
No Matter What Win or Lose I love Our Penn State Football Team. Time to Rest , Regroup and Get Back On the Field. I love @PennStateFball Lets Stick With Our Team. All the guys need to get healthy. 2 very good teams played today. #WeAre #WeAreForeverAFamily @coachjfranklin TEAM— Sue (@SueFrancisMook) October 9, 2021
Once again Sue remains positive and that is how we'll end it this week. We now wait to see if we have updates on Sean Clifford and the other players' injuries. Tough loss, but opportunity ahead to get some good wins.
