Here at Roar Lions Roar, we have made a habit of poking fun at Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi. It is also no secret that Penn State head coach James Franklin and Narduzzi are not great chums. That's what made Narduzzi's comments today so shocking as he was quick to defend his in-state rival over the accusations from Iowa fans and coaches that Penn State faked injuries (without even being asked about it specifically).

As it turns out, back in 2011, Iowa coach Dr. Kirk Ferentz pulled out the same card against Michigan State where Narduzzi served as defensive coordinator. Ferentz said, "They’ll probably come up with some formula. Probably hold a player out for a play or two, something like that. But it’s just one of those things." Oddly enough, this was the same year that the Hawkeyes had thirteen players hospitalized with rhabdomyolysis after a workout with their former disgraced strength coach, Chris Doyle.

As the old proverb states, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" and that may just hold true today. Maybe Narduzzi was being prophetic back in 2019 when he said that he and James Franklin vacation together in a sarcastic tone. So we here at Roar Lions Roar are...pulling...for...Pitt(?) this weekend as it squares off against Virginia Tech. Ironically enough, Iowa faces Purdue which may be RLR's greatest bit with the Birth of Purduzzi. Strange times for sure.
