Sean Clifford has been named as one of 13 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy — an award that recognizes combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.

Clifford is the 19th Nittany Lion to be named a finalist for the award — nicknamed the "Academic Heisman" — and the first since Trace McSorley in 2018. The fifth-year senior from Cincinnati, who was off to a career-best start prior to an injury suffered vs. Iowa, carries a 3.45 GPA in Public Relations.

Former Penn State offensive lineman John Urschel took home the award in 2013.
