Penn State defensive end/linebacker Jesse Luketa has become this season's first Nittany Lion to accept an invitation to the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl.

Luketa has made a successful transition to defensive end this season, filling a void left by potential starter Adisa Isaac, who was lost for the year in August.

The senior has started nine games (one at linebacker due to Ellis Brooks' first-half suspension against Ball State), racking up 47 tackles — six for loss — and half a sack.

Luketa had a signature moment in Penn State's home-opening win over the Cardinals, snaring a Drew Plitt pass and taking it 16 yards to paydirt.

While the invitation gives Luketa the opportunity to showcase his talents in front of NFL coaches, scouts and general managers, it doesn't guarantee him entering the NFL Draft — Jaquan Brisker and Tariq Castro-Fields both accepted invites to last year's game.

The Senior Bowl will take place Feb. 5, 2022 in Mobile, Alabama.
