Penn State's 2022 receiving corps got a major boost Friday night when former Western Kentucky wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley announced he was transferring to the Nittany Lions.

After two seasons at Hutchinson Community College, Tinsley spent the past two seasons with the Hilltoppers. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound receiver was a key weapon in the nation's top passing offense in 2021, catching 87 passes for 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The addition of Tinsley shores up questions surrounding Penn State's passing attack with Jahan Dotson almost certainly heading to the NFL. Though Tinsley may encounter some growing pains as he makes the leap from Conference USA to the Big Ten, he is poised to be a valuable member of a fairly inexperienced Nittany Lion wide receiver room in his final season of eligibility.

Tinsley will join Parker Washington, KeAndre Lambert-Smith, and a host of underclassmen including Malick Meiga, Harrison Wallace, and Liam Clifford as the foundation of the 2022 receiving corps. Freshmen Kaden Saunders, Anthony Ivey, Omari Evans, and Tyler Johnson could factor in as well.
