Galt has built a decades-long resume as one of the nation's top strength and conditioning coaches, with numerous Nittany Lions moving on to post big numbers at Penn State's Pro Day and the NFL Combine after developing under his watch.
Galt's connection with Franklin dates back to the pair's time at Maryland, and later, Vanderbilt.
Galt was seen as an important figure in the program over the past eight years. A search for his replacement is expected to begin immediately.
