Penn State's Kevin Wall has been named the Big Ten Hockey third star of the week. The sophomore forward received the recognition following a big scoring weekend in Penn State's weekend split at Ohio State. This is the first time in Wall's career he has won this weekly honor. Michigan forward Kent Johnson was awarded the first star and Notre Dame forward Max Ellis picked up the second star.

Wall picked up two assists in the Lions' 6-3 loss to the Buckeyes on Friday. And he followed that up with a pair of goals in the 5-2 Penn State win on Saturday. The four-point outburst pulled Wall into a tie for the team scoring lead with senior captain Alex Limoges with 11 points each.
Not only was Wall's effort important for the team, but it was a good bounceback after what had been a quieter stretch of games for the Carolina draft pick after starting the season red hot.
This is the third weekly award for a Nittany Lion player this season. Limoges was awarded the second star for the week of December 15 and junior goaltender Oskar Autio was named the third star last week.
After playing eight of its first twelve games on the road, Penn State finally gets an extended run of games in Pegula Ice Arena. Next up is a rematch with Michigan State on Friday and Saturday. Then, Wisconsin comes to town for another rematch the following weekend. Finally, Penn State gets a visit from Notre Dame. It will be the first meeting of the season with the Fighting Irish.
