Thank you Penn State for an amazing 4 years. As one chapter ends, another one begins. Im very excited to announce that I will be transfering to the University of Vermont to play my final year of college hockey. @UVMmhockey pic.twitter.com/nx3snAx8pi— Oskar Autio (@Oautio) April 19, 2022
The Espoo, Finland native served as the backup to Peyton Jones for the first two seasons of his career, and took over the starting job in the 2020-21 season going 9-9-0 through 18 starts.
With the continued development of sophomore Liam Souliere, Autio's departure was inevitable.
The Catamounts were 10th in the Hockey East standings and their goaltenders struggled. Autio is likely going to be competing with rising junior Gabe Carriere, who was not good last year going 6-14-2 through 23 games.
Autio leaves Hockey Valley as the program leader in shutouts (4), and third all time in wins, saves, and GAA.
