The injury Seth Nevills sustained at the Big Ten Tournament will keep him out of the NCAA Tournament. Nevills was not given an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament, and the injury that prevented him from placing at Big Tens prevented him from earning an automatic bid. Nevills is the second heavyweight Penn State lost to injury this season. He was originally moved into the starting lineup due to an injury to starter Anthony Cassar.

Nevills sustained his injury during the first round of the Big Ten Tournament while wrestling Alex Esposito of Rutgers. He injured his knee during the match and was unable to finish, leading to a medical forfeit.
Penn State will go to the NCAA Tournament with seven qualified wrestlers: Roman Bravo-Young, Nick Lee, Jarod Verkleeren, Vincenzo Joseph, Mark Hall, Aaron Brooks, and Shakur Rasheed. Hall and Brooks each earned individual Big Ten titles at 174 and 184-pounds, respectively.
